I thought it was about time did another project, so here it is.
Hook and Staples.
Start with some 6mm diameter mild steel bar, thiis was a piece of old steel I straighten up.

Heat the end to a bright yellow heat for about 12 to 15mm and start drawing down to a long square point.
When you have done that, take another heat and then forge down the corners to an octagonal point then heating as necessary continue drawing down to a long round taper.
( may I appologise at this point for the quality of some of the pictures, but I was running around with the camera set on timer so it was just pot luck what I got)
Now mark for the first bend I marked this at 50mm.
Take a heat and put in a bend to about 90 deg. You don't need to be to accurate as this will move slightly when you bend the hook.
Heat again and start bend the hook tapping the point carefully so as not to damage the point. You can use a piece of 10mm dia bar gripped tightly in a vice to bend it around.
Once you have done this, quench and mark out for the eye. I marked out 70mm between bends. Then take a heat and bend to 90 deg as before.
The easiet way to bend the eye is to place a piece of 10mm dia rod vertically in a vice. Now heat bar evenly from the bend for about 40mm, and pull around the 10mm rod. This will form the eye.
Cut off the excess with a hacksaw, take a heat and gently tap to flatten.
Now mark out for the twist, do this evenly between the hook and eye.
Heat between the two marks and flatten slightly, not to much or it will easily bend.
Heat the flattened section evenly, place eye in a vice and with a pair of tong or pliers twist the hook, one complete turn should be enough.
Done!
The staples can be made using the techniques, 6mm dia bar one with square points, and a longer one for doors made with long chisel type ends
this is driven through the door and clenched on the other side to prevent it from pulling out ( it is a good idea to drill pilot holes to stop the wood from splitting on the door staple)
Hope you find this useful.
