Composting Day at Wark Farm Book a place on our composting workshop, and take advantage of the location, Wark Farm by Cushnie, to purchase some speciality farm shop products. The Master Composter Project Officer, who has run several successful composting workshops across Aberdeenshire, will be at Wark farm, Cushnie, near Alford on Saturday, 27th September, 2008, from 10.30am through to 3pm. They will run two workshops, one at 11.00am and one in the afternoon, at 1.00pm. The workshops will cover all aspects of composting with helpful hints for beginners and experts alike. Information on how to take advantage of the offer for discounted compost bins, from as little as £6 will be available as well. Whether through composting or food digestion, you are able to reduce the amount of green waste and food waste going to landfill, which helps reduce the pollution created there – methane gas or leachate; as well as helping to create a valuable resource in the case of composting The event is being promoted across NEEPS (North East Eco-friendly People’s Site) at www.neeps.co.uk, which is a rapidly growing community with over 300 members based mostly in North East Scotland. It provides people interested in the environment, gardening and traditional crafts a place on the web where you can talk with likeminded people, share hints, tips, expertise and generally have a good old blether, through an online forum – as well as regular meet-ups including a food co-operative. To confirm your place on the composting workshops, or to get more information , please call Aberdeen Forward on 01224 774171.
